Organic Swiss chard

This morning while washing greens for my green smoothie, I pulled out the package of organic Swiss chard Prince Charming purchased last night at the local grocery.

This one leaf was about 20 inches long, 12 inches wide and so lovely in color!
Christmas colored!

After washing it I just had to snap a few pics...it was too pretty not to.
Now if only the chard I've planted in my garden can do this!
My own is growing, but oh so slowly - maybe the rain today, tonight, and tomorrow will help and the colder temperatures should too.

Below is a pic of lil ku*bota and me.  I kept telling him to smile, but he would not.
I just love his second chin. :)
I do not like my neck wrinkles. :(

  1. That leaf does not even.look.real, my dear. Amazing. And you must tell us about this green smoothie..for breakfast?? Love, love the pic. And just so you know...neck wrinkles are way better than a double chin.

  2. Thanks, Barbara :) Yes, the leaf and the other 6 in the package were totally real and so beautiful. The smoothie is 2-3 Swiss chard leaves, 2 frozen bananas, 1.5 cups of water - blend all together in Vitamix and voila...a most delicious very green banana flavored smoothie. This recipe makes two large smoothies. I drink one and the other is put in the fridge for my husband when he gets home for lunch. I have this 3-4 times per week for breakfast. It is carby yes, but gives us more raw green nutrients and fiber than we could ever consume in a salad. Check out www.rawfamily.com and www.greensmoothiegirl.com
